First Hot Air Balloon under the “Oman Balloons” Project launched in Cappadocia, Turkey

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the city of Cappadocia – one of the world’s most iconic tourist destinations – witnessed the launch of the first hot air balloon under the “Oman Balloons” project. The launch was organized by Oman Balloons Company, the first fully Omani-owned and specialized company in hot air balloon operations and tourism flights.
This pioneering project reflects a strategic vision in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to diversify the tourism offerings of the Sultanate and to introduce innovative experiences that position Oman as a unique destination in the field of hot air balloon tourism.
The newly launched balloon, named “Oman Balloon No. 1” with the call sign A4O-OHS, has received full certification from the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman. It is the largest balloon of its kind in the Sultanate, accommodating 20 tourists in addition to a pilot and co-pilot. It has been specifically designed and manufactured to suit the weather and altitude conditions of Oman’s diverse tourist regions, offering a safe and memorable flying experience.
The launch took place in Cappadocia, a global hub for hot air ballooning, where around 180 balloons take to the skies daily. This reflects the significance of this tourism industry and the depth of expertise Oman Balloons is leveraging through its strategic partnership with Pasha Balloons, one of the largest hot air balloon manufacturers in Europe, which custom-built this balloon for the Oman project.
Oman Balloons is the exclusive agent for Pasha Balloons in the GCC region, managing balloon operations, maintenance, manufacturing, and training Omani talent in the field—enhancing Oman’s readiness to lead this sector regionally.
This launch marks a milestone in the development of balloon tourism in Oman and opens the door for boosting domestic tourism and attracting international visitors seeking exceptional aerial experiences amidst Oman’s breathtaking natural landscapes.
The balloon was manufactured at the world-renowned Pasha Balloons factories, considered among the largest in Europe. Oman Balloons serves as Pasha’s exclusive agent in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
